Renewing their commitment to environmentally sustainable mall operations, all 48 SM Supermalls across the nation and 6 malls in China join the international community for the annual Earth Hour celebration on March 29, 2014 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
SM’s active role in Earth Hour reinforces the statement that the time to take action against global warming is now.
In Mindanao, all 4 SM malls – SM City Davao, SM Lanang Premier, SM City General Santos, and SM City Cagayan de Oro – will simultaneously switch off 100% of the mall buildings’ lighted logos and 50% of interior and perimeter lights, to be one with the global call to save the planet.
Prior to the switch-off, a program will take place this Saturday, at 7:30 pm at the SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court and at 8:00 pm at SM City Davao Open Parking C, SM City General Santos Fountain Court and SM City Cagayan de Oro Las Ramblas Parking Area.
The Earth Hour celebration at SM Supermalls will be held in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). To encourage stronger participation from the public, SM Supermalls have tapped the support of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the private sector, socio-civic organizations and various stakeholders.
The Earth Hour in 2013 was participated in by almost 1,671 towns, cities, provinces and municipalities in the Philippines. It continues to be significant event this year with a campaign for everyone to be a ‘superhero for the planet.’ At SM, this means using one’s power to advocate for environmental awareness beyond the symbolic 60 minutes.
Use your power to save the planet. Join the Earth Hour at any of the SM malls near you.
