Davao Light is implementing a schedule of increases on distribution rates effective August 2011.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has recently approved the distribution rates of Davao Light and Power for Regulatory Year 2012 covering the period July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.
Although the newly approved distribution rates by ERC are effective July 1, 2011 billing, Davao Light will be implementing the said rates starting August 2011 billing. The overall average increase is P0.1055/kWh; the increase is different by customer schedule. The details of the increase by customer schedule will be shown in the message box of the customer’s August bill.
For residential customers the average increase is P 0.1942 per kWhr. The impact to a residential customer whose monthly usage is 175 kWhrs is an increase in his total distribution charges of P33.99/month. Including the effect of VAT and franchise tax, the increase will be P0.2192 per kWhr or P38.37/month.
Of Davao Light’s 287,000 customers, 36% or 104,000 customers avail of the lifeline subsidy discounts. An estimated 11% or 11,700 of these 104,000 customers whose consumption is 0 to 20 kWhrs enjoy 100% discounts and pay only the fixed charge of P5.00 a month.
