Dabawenyos are making quite an impression in the field of filmmaking. Aside from ‘Imburnal‘, which was hailed as the Best Film in the recent Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea, ‘Latus’ from Davao filmmaker John Paul Seniel is making waves after having been chosen as finalist to the Cinemalaya’s short feature category.
‘Latus’ is Seniel’s first entry to Cinemalaya, although he has already written and directed quite a number of good films and short features in the past. His documentary ‘Amuma, Hands for Nobody’ had its debut screening in the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in 2005. He was also recognized as the Most Promising Filmmaker in the Mindanao Film Festival 2008.
If his name rings a bell, that is because we also see him as news correspondent for GMA Network’s Testigo.
thank you for posting the news about my film chosen as finalist in the short film category of cinemalaya 2009.
i am so happy reading this, though i work in tv, still i am amazed if my achievements are published.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY, God must increase and I must decrease.
